Post Meetings and Activities Cancelled Until Further Notice

DEPARTMENT COMMANDER'S MESSAGE:

CONCORD -    The Governor's directive March 16 officially bans restaurants and bars, including private clubs and veteran’s organization canteens to cease having patrons on site. They are allowed to have take-out service or delivery.

In addition, President Trump made a statement that limits all meetings to 10 people or less.

Brooks said, “This is a serious public health and safety issue and must be adhered to. Since a majority of our membership is older and more vulnerable to contracting this virus, I am ordering all Posts in the Department of NH to stop all meetings and events for the next 30 days.”

Use of electronic devices can be used to communicate instead of face-to-face meetings, he added. This closure will be in effect until April 15 at which time Department officers will re-access the situation.

As a result all post meetings have been cancelled until further notice.

Fire Damages Post Home

NASHUA - Nashua fire officials are investgating the cause of a fire April 24 which damaged the outside deck and stairs at the Post Home.

The Nashua Telegraph reported Crews were called just before midnight for a report of an outside fire close to the rear of the building, which dates to 1890 and was originally Nashua Police headquarters before the becoming the Coffey Post Home.

first-arriving crews reported heavy fire on the south side of the building, and determined an attached exterior deck was ablaze.

The deck, which is attached to a side of the building, had the stairs from the parking lot to the deck burned away.

A quick attack by firefighters kept the fire from burning through the deck and into the basement area or the interior of the first floor.

There was smoke damage to the basement and the first floor lounge area of the post home.
